Battery labels & symbols
All batteries in Zeekr vehicles are labelled in accordance with Article 13 of EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. The symbols below appear on the batteries themselves or on their packaging and accompanying documents. Understanding these helps you handle, store, and return batteries correctly at end of life.
• Crossed-out wheelie bin - This battery must not be disposed of with household waste. It must be returned to a designated collection or take-back point for separate treatment and recycling.
• Recycling symbol - The materials in this battery are recoverable. Returning it through authorised channels ensures those materials are recycled rather than lost to landfill.
• CE marking - The battery meets the applicable EU regulatory requirements, including EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542, and has been assessed accordingly before being placed on the market.
• Lead content (Pb) - This symbol indicates the battery contains lead, a regulated substance. Lead-acid batteries — such as the 12V battery in your Zeekr — must be returned through designated take-back routes.
• Hazard warning - Indicates a fire, burn, or chemical risk associated with the battery. Read the safety instructions on the label and do not attempt to open, short-circuit, or incinerate the battery.
Substances in Zeekr batteries
Zeekr vehicle batteries contain materials that require careful handling and must not enter the general waste stream. Improper disposal risks harm to the environment and human health.

The high-voltage battery in your Zeekr vehicle contains lithium-based active materials — lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) or lithium iron phosphate (LFP) depending on variant — alongside electrolyte salts dissolved in organic solvents. These materials are hazardous if released into the environment through physical damage, fire, or improper dismantling. Lithium in particular can react with water. Cobalt (in NMC) is a substance of concern due to its sourcing and ecological impact. Never attempt to open, puncture, or dismantle an HV battery yourself. Return through authorised Zeekr channels only. | The 12V starter battery contains lead and sulfuric acid. Lead is a heavy metal classified as hazardous under EU environmental legislation. Sulfuric acid is corrosive. Both substances are recoverable through regulated recycling and must not enter landfill or household waste. Return to a Zeekr service centre or designated battery collection point. | Smaller lithium coin and cylindrical cells used in key fobs (Panasonic CR2450), TPMS sensors (Maxell CR2032HR), and other vehicle systems contain lithium and metallic compounds. Although small, these cells must not be discarded as household waste. They can be returned to any battery collection point — including those at electronics retailers or local authority sites — or via Zeekr service centres. |
Extending your battery life
You can significantly extend the useful life of your Zeekr battery by following these practices. A well-maintained battery reduces waste and supports a circular economy.
• Drive and charge the car regularly, at least one a month. Note: Driving the car regulary will also avoid discharging the low-voltage battery.
• Never fully discharge the battery. Note: The battery can discharge over time, even if the car is not used, since the battery powers onboard electronics.
• Every three months, charge the car to 100%. Then consume the energy to 80% level of charge as soon as possible.
• Keep the level of charge between 10% and 80%.
• Minimize the use of DC charging.
• Precondition the battery before departure.
• When storing the car for more than three months, keep the battery's level of charge between 50% and 80%.
Safe handling of waste batteries
Before returning a battery, follow these safety guidelines to protect yourself and others.

Do not transport a visibly damaged, swollen, or leaking battery without guidance. Contact Zeekr aftersales — damaged HV batteries require specialist handling and transport. | Do not expose waste lithium batteries to water. Keep them in a cool, dry location away from flammable materials until they can be returned. | HV traction batteries operate at voltages that are immediately life-threatening. Never attempt to open, cut, or short-circuit any vehicle battery. | Keep coin cell batteries (key fob, TPMS) away from children — especially button cells, which are a swallowing hazard. |

Returning your battery
As an end-user, you are required under EU law to return waste batteries separately from general household waste. Zeekr and our EPR partners provide free take-back options in all markets where we operate.
Safety notice: Discarding batteries in household waste or littering is prohibited and harmful. Batteries contain recoverable materials — returning them ensures they are properly recycled.
